Guest Rachael.brown5@btinternet.com Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 B) When you're driving along if you put the A/C on it feels like the breaks jam on and the engine cuts instantly, quite scary, is it something really bad!!! Quote
Masked Marauder Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 It sounds like a siezed aircon compressor. Was the aircon working correctly previously? Quote

Guest Rachael.brown5@btinternet.com Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 thanks for your help why would the compressor make the car cut out, will my car be ok for now if i don't use the A/C Quote
johnb80 Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 When you switch on the aircon an electro-magnetic clutch engages. This uses engine power to turn the compressor. If the compressor is seized and it won't turn it stops the engine / breaks the drive belt. You won't do any harm driving if the a/c is switched off. Regards - JB Quote
Guest Rachael.brown5@btinternet.com Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 THANKS JOHN , AT LEAST I KNOW THAT I CAN'T DO ANY DAMAGE IF I DON'T PUT THE A/C ON. NOW I WILL JUST HAVE TO SAVE UP TO GET IT DONE!!! Quote
